Homograph Finder
2005-02-09 (updated 2008-05-11)
This is a crude Java applet for finding homographs (homoglyphs, confusables) of Latin-1 characters in the Unicode BMP, as used in various attacks.
Notes:
- Here’s the source archive: homographs-0.0.1-sources.zip
- You need at least Sun Java 5 for this applet to run. If it doesn’t work in the browser even though you do have the proper Java runtime installed, just download the JAR file and start it as an application.
- The results depend heavily on your installed fonts – most fonts have glyphs only for a small subset of Unicode. Windows users should try e.g. Arial, Georgia or Verdana. Symbol fonts tend to produce useless results.
